What are the networking and social activities at CasITConf’13? There are several, and all are open to anyone who has registered for any part of the conference.
Thursday night the Seattle Area System Administrators Guild (SASAG) is hosting a welcome reception sponsored by Silicon Mechanics in the Governors Room at the Hotel Deca. There will be light refreshments and lots of people to connect with. The Governor’s Room is conveniently located next to the District Lounge, purveyors of stronger libations. The reception is from 7pm to 9pm but the doors won’t shut until much later for those who want to keep going.
The conference reception is Friday night in the Ballroom. There will be food, drinks, and door prizes and a relaxed atmosphere to connect with fellow attendees. The reception is a chance to chat with other attendees. Make connections, discuss the day’s tutorials, and relax.
Both receptions are open to anyone who has registered for any part of the conference.
Lunch will be served in the ballroom. There are also several interesting restaurants and coffee shops in the immediate area for those who want to get outside for a breath of air.
We’ll be wrapping up the conference with a closing session of Lightning Talks open to everyone who registered for any tech or tutorial session. It will be Saturday from 5pm to 6pm in the ballroom. Lightning talks are last-minute presentations of up to 5 minutes on pretty much anything (we do ask that the presentation be kept suitable to the audience, though it doesn’t have to be on a technical topic). There won’t be any AV, just the speaker and a 5-minute limit.
There will be tea and coffee service before the morning sessions. After you’ve picked up your registration materials (we hope to have the registration desk open by 8am) head into the ballroom for a warm beverage and a chance to meet other attendees. The beverage service will
be periodically refreshed throughout the day. Snacks will be provided during the morning and afternoon breaks.
There will be vendor tables in the ballroom with conference sponsors interested in talking with you while you sip your refreshments. Some will be looking to hire you, some will want to tell you about their products or services, and some might even be doing both at the same time.
